Inglenook is approximately 5 1/2 hours from both New York City and Boston and 2 hours from Montreal. It is a different world up here! We are convenient and quiet, but not isolated. A nature lover's paradise, the Adirondack Park is 6 million acres of incredible beauty. There is a boat launch just 3 minutes from the cottage which opens up over 40 miles of lakes and rivers through the stunning backcountry. Inglenook is an excellent base camp from which to enjoy day trips all over the park. The Olympic Village of Lake Placid and Mirror Lake are 10 minutes away, and only 10 minutes more to the slopes of famed Whiteface Mountain. Outstanding downhill and Nordic skiing opportunities are plentiful, as well as ice skating, bobsledding, snowboarding, ice fishing, snowmobiling, dog sledding, or any winter sport you desire. If quiet walks in the woods, photography,or antique hunting are more your style, we have all that too. And, there are a variety of excellent restaurants in the area that are open year round. The quaint villages will take you back in time. All bedrooms at the cottage offer new mattresses and fine quality linens. Each has cable television and clock/radios. Indulge yourself with Penhaligon's toiletries, plush robes, hair-dryers and lighted mirrors. Inglenook was built in 1904 and received a new beginning in 2006. Careful to preserve the fine craftsmanship of old, you'll enjoy the original wainscoting and inglenook alcove in the Great Room, perfect for a good story to be told by the crackling of a cool fall evening's fire. The Dining Room is impressive ...diamond pane windowed bay, fireplace, and Stickley furnishings. Original and spacious bead board porches are located on both floors ...perfect for gathering to dine, read or just napping on one of the comfortable couches.
